Chiang Mai Night Bazaar

The Night Bazaar

Diamonds in the Rough

Long a highlight of the Chiang Mai tourist circuit, the Night Bazaar has perhaps passed its prime (the city has so much more to offer these days). But if you can get beyond the tired and tiresome vendors peddling cart after cart of same-same, there are some interesting shops, restaurants and bars to be found.

Eats

Billy's - Billy serves tasty pasta dishes and thin pizzas in a pleasant restaurant, and at very reasonable prices. Great food, good wine, minimal ceremony. Turn left off Loi Kroah onto Kampheng Din and you'll find Billy's just after the temple.

Nighlife

Guitarman - probably the best intimate setup for live music in Chiang Mai. Top notch sound system, regular rock and blues groups, and plenty of guest bands and musicians as well. Good food and plenty of ice cold beer too. Down the river end of Loi Kroah, just before you hit Chang Klan.
